And The Sun Was All

something to take my mind off of the hot, muggy state of affairs here in the east village . . .

i spent a lovely weekend in st. tropez while i was in paris and i absolutely loved it. i’ve never seen more bentleys, incredible vintage stores, and ice cream shops in one place. needless to say, i was a happy little bunny. my camera died about a day into my trip but, luckily, the cherry blossom girl was in st. tropez at the same time. below, a mixture of her photos with my own . . .

Like a prayer

hello, hello, and happy friday! this has certainly been an exciting week for yours truly. just a day after i found myself sandwiched between Pat McGrath and her supermodel pals, i attended the launch party for Bravo’s new show, “Double Exposure.” the show follows photographers markus klinko and indrani, whose celebrity shots are frequently featured in high-fashion editorials . . .

the Covergirl-sponsored fiesta was held in a stunning former cathedral. between the gorgeous architecture, dim but vibrantly-hued lighting, and larger-than-life prints of the photographers’ work, the venue was one of the best i’ve seen in awhile . . .

note that lady gaga reigned over the altar . . . the mark of any great party. or any great church, for that matter.

have a happy weekend!

Baby you’re a star

i was lucky enough to join the pretty people as they joined forces on tuesday to celebrate the launch of Pat McGrath x Covergirl x LeSportsac makeup bags. the bags are a patent black with bright yellow accents, inspired by Covergirl’s new Lash Blash mascara and the color palette of their recent Drew Barrymore by Steven Meisel ads . . .

Pat arrived at LeSportsac’s Soho store with an extensive entourage of MODs (sasha pivovarova and iris strubegger and vlada roslyakova, oh my!) who were perhaps even more beautiful in person than in photos . . . sigh. other notable attendees included beauty editors- vogue’s sarah brown, teen vogue’s eva chen, and many more.

Everything’s coming up roses

using brooches to secure flowers together = equal parts simple beauty and sparkle. what a genius idea! luckily, i picked up a few vintage brooches at my favorite flea market right before i left paris . . .

Up, Up, and Away

what better way to spend a quiet sunday night than bellinis and birthday celebrations at kong?

perched at the top of the LVMH building, this so-trendy-it-hurts restaurant lived up to my expectations. apparently it made an appearance in the last episode of sex and the city; according to someone at my table, it’s smaller than it looked on the show. i’ve never really gotten into satc so i can’t confirm, but i liked the intimate feel of the small-ish space. other highlights included the kitschy philippe starck decor, my amazing dessert (a pear and puff pastry confection with caramel whipped cream,) and the glass ceiling that allowed for gorgeous panoramic views. reservations can get tricky thursday through saturday, but the sunday-night ambiance was positively peaceful.

Here Comes the Sun

heylo, dear readers! i’ve just returned from a last-minute getaway to the south of france. below, my favorite parts of the trip in photos:

DSC_0636{staggering views from the fjords of marseille}

{the light and refreshing flavors of coastal cuisine}

{postcard-perfect port of cassis}

{lazy afternoons. . . little espresso cups and big sunglasses make for great people-watching}

{limitless sunshine and saltwater}

. . . such a beautiful time. happy sigh.

Bon Appetit

happy monday, my dears! i found a new favorite restaurant this weekend: restaurant bon, conveniently located just around the corner from my apartment in the 16th arrondissement. my spicy crab rolls, caramelized black cod, and impossibly decadent chocolate torte were heavenly, but my favorite part of the evening was the ambiance. the restaurant features four distinctly themed rooms, created by design genius philippe starck:

{the library}

{the vinothèque}

{the boudoir}

Hot, Sticky, Sweet

rebecca ward’s installation in kate spade’s tokyo store is fun, fresh, and all sorts of other lovely adjectives that also happen to describe the brand itself . . .

the soho location threw a soiree in honor of ward’s work, complete with a “tape bar” where guests could get craft-ay with notebooks and technicolor electric tape . . . cuties!

Swede Heart

hello my dears, hope you all had a happy weekend. i just found out that i’m hitting stockholm in a few weeks! here’s what my swed-est dreams are made of:

{hotel j on the scandinavian sea, where nantucket meets nordic cool}

{moderna museet, the museum of modern art}

{that elusive stockholm style}

cropped yyigal jacket, alexander wang pants and givenchy booties that were even more beautiful in person when i spotted them at shine

Bessie

ps. in my excitement, i started researching the city and stumbled upon a “list of useful swedish phrases.” among them: “Min svävare är full med ålar,” which roughly translates into, “My hovercraft is full of eels.” i’m quite unsure of what this is supposed to express (bliss? boredom? imminent danger?) but i plan on inserting it randomly into conversations until i find out. more updates to come.
