Hello my dears, happy “hurrah-the-weekend-is-here”-day! Today is also my birthday; I’ve compiled a little wish-list for my Friday Favorites post to mark the occasion. I’ll be expecting the following in five to seven business days:
This harness-like chain seems slightly odd in theory, but I think it would look amazing over a simple white tank.
I don’t think I’ll ever be badass enough to be taken seriously in a leather motorcycle jacket, but these jeans are a more subtle way to work this fall’s moto-inspired trend. They’re also insanely priced, yay!
3. What We Eat When We’re Alone My inner fat kid is dying to read Deborah Madison’s conversationally-written anthropological study on everyday people and their relationships with food. There are recipes and beautiful illustrations by Patrick McFarlin sprinkled throughout the book- what’s not to love?
4. Shoulder Bag This gorgeous bag by Dylan is possibly my favorite item on the list. The deep purple would add just enough color to any outfit, and the zippers keep things interesting. I waaaant.
5. Floral Dress The colors of this Elizabeth and James dress (muted gray with tiny cornflower blue flowers) make it appropriate for autumn. I’d pair it with a jacket, tights, and boots.
These ankle-length boots are subtle and casual enough to wear with anything; the varying heights are a subtly unique touch.
Have a lovely weekend!
KC&CO, Bessie Hello, hello! As yesterday was the first day of autumn, I thought it was only appropriate to do a post on leggings and tights. There are so many fun patterns and embellishments that I can’t wait to play around with this fall. Although they’re huge right now, you won’t find any ripped or slashed tights below- I physically can’t bring myself to wear them. I’m not really into the “my legs were ran over by a lawnmower” look, ya dig? Check out a few styles that I much prefer:
zig-zag patterned tights, two-toned tights, buttoned leggings
My favorites are the motorcycle leggings (click on the image or link for a detailed image) and the two-toned tights. Thoughts?

The photo above, from the newest issue of Elle Russia, is such a perfect blend of summer and fall pieces. The jumble of textures is absolutely balanced by a simple, neutral color scheme. Below are a few more outfits that embody a seamless transition into the new season (piercing icy-blue gaze and perfectly tousled blonde locks not included:)
featherweight hooded throw, ribbed tank, studded short, open toe booties
motorcycle vest, scarf, slim cropped pant, studded sandals
assymetric zip leather jacket, poppy frill front dress, mirrored ring, flats
extended shoulder blazer, tunic tank, mini skirt, suede ankle boot
medallion sweater, shorts, thin enamel bangle, strappy wedge sandals

The little black dress was pioneered in the 1920s by Coco Chanel, and its simple elegance has made it an essential part of every woman’s closet. Conservative or alluring, classic or contemporary, dressed up or dressed down- the possibilities are endless. My favorite LBDs of the moment demonstrate how versatile this piece is. Some of the dresses below are bold enough to stand on their own, while others provide the perfect backdrop for statement accessories. Which ones are your favorites?
top (left to right:) 1. Strapless Dress with Zip, Mason by Michelle Mason (Shopbop, $374) 2. Simplicity Dress, Catherine Malandrino (chickdowntown, $445 $237) 3. Nylon Tricot Scoop Back Tank Pencil Dress (American Apparel, $42) *Note: If you have the body and confidence to pull it off, this is possibly one of the sexiest dresses in existence. The simple front, come-hither back, and clingy fabric make for a seductive combination- not for the faint of heart.
bottom (left to right:) 1. Short Dress, Prada (YOOX, $662) *Click on the link and check out the adorable back on this otherwise minimalist dress. 2. Gisela Strapless Dress (Forever 21, $22.80) 3. Terasina Dress by Maeve (Anthropologie, $118) *Accessories could dress this adorable piece up (black tights, booties, and a colorful cocktail ring) or down (wide belt, flats, and a cardigan.)
