Dress Down

I’m loving how Leighton Meester’s vest gave her pretty dress a cooler, more casual vibe at the Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2010 show in Paris. Here are a few more pieces that I’d pair with fancy frocks to dress them down a bit:

loop back blazer, motorcycle jacket, double breasted vest

paired with…

LaROK, Valentino rtw, J. Crew, Alice + Olivia, M Missoni, Free People

Friday Favorites

Hello my dears, happy “hurrah-the-weekend-is-here”-day!  Today is also my birthday; I’ve compiled a little wish-list for my Friday Favorites post to mark the occasion. I’ll be expecting the following in five to seven business days:

1. Art Deco Tuxedo Body Chain

This harness-like chain seems slightly odd in theory, but I think it would look amazing over a simple white tank.

2. Motorcycle Jeans

I don’t think I’ll ever be badass enough to be taken seriously in a leather motorcycle jacket, but these jeans are a more subtle way to work this fall’s moto-inspired trend. They’re also insanely priced, yay!

3. What We Eat When We’re Alone

My inner fat kid is dying to read Deborah Madison’s conversationally-written anthropological study on everyday people and their relationships with food. There are recipes and beautiful illustrations by Patrick McFarlin sprinkled throughout the book- what’s not to love?

4. Shoulder Bag

This gorgeous bag by Dylan is possibly my favorite item on the list. The deep purple would add just enough color to any outfit, and the zippers keep things interesting. I waaaant.

5. Floral Dress

The colors of this Elizabeth and James dress (muted gray with tiny cornflower blue flowers) make it appropriate for autumn. I’d pair it with a jacket, tights, and boots.

6. Leather Booties

These ankle-length boots are subtle and casual enough to wear with anything; the varying heights are a subtly unique touch.

Have a lovely weekend!

Bessie
